  • 1.0 out of 5 stars from Joy L Arend -- Don't waste your money. : I have read many books by this author. His early novels are well written. The characters are fleshed out and believable. You can see them and identify with them. You care about them. Very suspenseful and fast paced action. Now, his newer books like this one are not worth reading. I didn't care about the characters and there was no plot! No real reason why they were being stalked. It was the most boring book! I skipped ahead just to finish it because I spent money on it. So many of the scenes were contrived and not believable. An example is the hospital allowing Stone to watch surgery on his lover in the theater where medical students observe to learn. That would never happen in real life. Other scenes were just as unbelievable. I was very disappointed. His last 10 or more books were disappointing compared to his earlier novels. • 4.0 out of 5 stars from Cynthia Burke -- One of his better story lines. : I've read several of Stuart Woods books introduced to me by an old boyfriend who knew him. (boyfriend no longer on the planet. We often ate at the Manhattan restaurants referenced in the books). The sex here is routine, the alcohol consumption very 50's or 60's. However, never having to cook, wash up or deal with the Amazon shoppers at Whole Foods is enticing. Also never having to find a cab in the rain, or deal with customs at a NY airport is a heavenly fantasy. And his dialogue is great. Almost as good as Aaron Sorkin. • 5.0 out of 5 stars from Nan L. Thompson -- Excellent reading and exciting story! : I could hardly wait until this book was published. Downloaded it right away on my Kindle and read it almost straight through. It is just my kind of book - romance, intrigue and some really nasty bad guys. Loved Ed Rawls and his participation - don't hesitate to buy this book - you will enjoy every minute of it. ( Reviewed in the United States on December 31, 2020 )
  • 5.0 out of 5 stars from Don Roach -- Heart Pounding : Favorite characters get caught up in action that keeps compounding. Stone relys on his closest friends to keep the balance tipping back in their favor while strategizing on how not to lose anybody's head. In dealing with ruthless evils, he finds his desire to keep his loved ones safe empowering. Very hard to put this book aside for most any reason. ( Reviewed in the United States on January 4, 2021 )
  • 3.0 out of 5 stars from besos -- Read other Stuart Woods books before this : I have read all the Stone Barrington books and felt this was the worst. The language was different than previous books in this series. Where were Dino and Viv barely made any scenes. Only one restaurant scene @ their beloved NYC restaurants. Not much business for Woodmen and Weld, and no mention of Arrington or the kids. A lot more killing people for no apparent reason, cursing in first chapter, and the ending didn’t tie anything together the book just stopped. I would give 2 1/2 stars just because I love Stone and Dino but this was not the same. ( Reviewed in the United States on January 29, 2021 )
  • 4.0 out of 5 stars from Old n wise -- Unbelievable.....period : Always enjoy reading about Stone and the gang....this one well not your best.....good read a page turner by all means, but enough about the Russians .... ( Reviewed in the United States on January 5, 2021 )
  • 3.0 out of 5 stars from "Cal" -- Fun Read but pretty stupid too : Those that enjoy Barrington novels will enjoy the fast pace easy read. Plenty of stupid in this novel that you will question because it makes no sense. Nonetheless it’s typical Barrington of late and moves along. You always feel like you are right there with them. The why and the how could that be questions of the reader are not answered. These folk are always dining at home in tuxedos and gowns. Hello it’s 2021 and Ralph Lauren is Stuart’s buddy. • 4.0 out of 5 stars from Sabrina Norris -- Interesting : Very action filled . London to Paris and back , then again to Maine . I truly enjoy Stone Barrington novels but this one while entertaining was just a little bit off . ( Reviewed in the United States on January 4, 2021 )
